“The largest music event ever to grace Gotham” is coming to Hunter’s Point South. Make Music New York, a live, free musical celebration on June 21, the longest day of the year, with over 1,300 concerts on streets, sidewalks, and parks across the five boroughs will bring several performances to the neighborhood. From 11 in the morning to 6 at night, musicians of all ages, creeds, and musical persuasions are showcasing their talents in the waterfront parks and their adjacent community spots.

The schedule includes the following concerts and venues:

Hunters Point Community Middle School Band @ Gantry Plaza State Park, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

HPCMS Band is a currently an all 6th grade band playing blues music from Mississippi, drumming from Brazil and some Motown favorites.

Robin’s Egg Blue @ LIC Flea & Food, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

New York City-based indie folk-rock outfit Robin’s Egg Blue formed in 2009 around the main talents of Japan-born, Atsumi Ishibashi on vocals & ukulele and Masashi Ishiura on guitar. Their style is described as “progressive Disney sound influenced by alternative rockers…played on ukelele and guitar.”

Toya Delazy @ LIC Landing, Hunter’s Point South Park, 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM

Both a singer and a pianist, Toya Delazy’s music has been called a mixture of jazz, electro and hip-hop, with a healthy South African flavour. Toya’s performance repertoire ranges from delicate, soulful love songs to upbeat rocking electro tunes, songs which many audience members will be familiar with thanks to her widespread airplay all over the African continent.

LIC Artist Showcase @ LIC Landing, Hunter’s Point South Park, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Local musicians will perform at this community concert on the waterfront at LIC Landing.

So come celebrate summer solstice with some sunny tunes… winter will be back before you know it
