For several weeks in June, visitors to Hunters Point Park will be able to add a little music to their waterfront visit. Non-profit Sing for Hope donated a piano outside the LIC Landing as part of its effort to promote arts programming. This year, 50 pianos have been donated throughout all 5 boroughs.

The public is invited to play the piano. The piano at LIC Landing piano will be available from sunrise to about 10 p.m. After the two-week period ends, the pianos will be donated to a community organization in the area where they were located.

Through the volunteer service of over 1,500 artists—including opera singers, actors, jazz musicians, dancers, puppeteers and visual artists—Sing for Hope brings dynamic arts outreach programming to under-resourced communities throughout New York.

The colorful pianos were created by a volunteer artist or a notable New Yorker enliven public spaces to not only bring music, but also to bring visual art to communities, as each piano receives its own design from an artist. Sing for Hope estimates that it reaches an estimated 2 million New Yorkers and visitors every year.
