“The largest music event ever to grace Gotham” is coming to Hunter’s Point South.
Make Music New York, a live, free musical celebration on June 21, the longest day of the year, with over 1,300 concerts on streets, sidewalks, and parks across the five boroughs will bring several performances to the neighborhood.
From 11 in the morning to 6 at night, musicians of all ages, creeds, and musical persuasions are showcasing their talents in the waterfront parks and their adjacent community spots.

On Saturday, June 14 Hunters Point South Park will host a charitable dog and beer mixer.
Paws & Pints, an events company specializing in human friendly dog events where dogs and their well-behaved owners can socialize together, will be hosting its inaugural event at LIC Landing.
The gathering will provide the canine guest with toys, treats and other friendly dogs to play with. As for the owners, Paws & Pints hopes to keep their tail wagging, too, with food, cold draft beers, music, and prizes.

Flux Factory, in partnership with the Long Island City Community Garden, is excited to present Nightlight, an interactive light-based outdoor installation that investigates public and private land use after dark.
Nightlight opens a city-owned public space beyond regular hours, creating a location for interaction, discovery, and communication that otherwise wouldn’t exist. The installation experiments with the power of light in creating a safe space for passersby to happen upon and explore.

New-City Church sponsored a series of free Sunday concerts in Hunter’s Point South Park. Performances took place on June, 1 at 11 am (featuring the Florida Worship Choir and Orchestra) and June 8 at 4 pm (featuring a Youth Choir from Montgomery, Alabama).

Last night, food lovers from all boroughs braved the elements and made their way to Hunter’s Point South neighboring Gantry Plaza State Park to sample what LIC has to offer.
For the 9th time, the Chocolate Factory Theater presented the annual Taste of LIC festival featuring food and beverage tastings from 50+ restaurants and auction and raffle prizes courtesy of 100 local businesses.

Book lovers will be in their glee at the LIC waterfront parks this summer as Gantry Plaza State Park is hosting a range of new library services.
Starting May 31, a solar-powered mobile library will be parked at Center Boulevard and 48th Avenue on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, offering books, digital downloads and other materials for loan to patrons of all ages.
